Dear Dr. Harsh Sehgal,

Trilok Ayurveda - Col HP Singh Alzheimer’s patientMy father Col.H.P.Singh, 87, was out and out a disciplinarian, defense personnel who fought in World War II and defended Indian boundaries in 1962 during Chinese Aggression is an Alzheimer’s patient today (almost 90% cured).

As a caregiver, I used to fear, as how would I be able to preserve my father’s dignity. However, almighty aided me out when he started responding to the ayurvedic treatment. Now seeing him stable gives me immense satisfaction.

It was his repetitive behavior that set me thinking that all was not well with him. I had some experience with Alzheimer’s disease as I had seen an Alzheimer’s patient at close quarters from my in –laws side of the family.

He would ask a question and after a lapse of a few minutes, he would ask the same question again. Once or twice I ignored it thinking he must be tired and may be he did not register the answer first time but when this continued to happen again and again we knew that we had to see a doctor as soon as possible.

We brought him to Delhi and met Dr. Sushma Chawla. She gave us two options of treatment- one was regular Allopathic treatment and other was Ayurvedic treatment. Knowing very well that allopathic treatment could not stop the progression or provide any solution we as a family opted for Ayurvedic treatment.

In addition, we were very fortunate on two accounts. One that my father was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s at an early stage and secondly that we met Vaidya Harsh Sehgal, an Ayurvedic doctor, through Dr. Sushma Chawla.

Dr. Sushma Chawla set up a meeting with Vaidya Harsh Sehgal. We were very gratified by what he told us about the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease through Ayurvedic medicines and success he had achieved with some of his other patients.

His treatment started in the month of March-2003. In about three months, we saw some improvement in my father. He was in a much better position and does not ask the same question repeatedly. His overall health also started improving. However, at that time he was not 100% cured, but we have seen a ray of hope in the treatment, as some renowned neurologists told us that there is no cure for this disease. In addition, what was of utmost importance is that the disease was arrested and my father was not deteriorating any further. Today, after more than 4 years of treatment I rate his performance as 9 out of 10, which was only 4 out of 10 before starting the treatment.

Some obvious signs of improvement are as follows:
A) He does not blabber anymore.
B) No repetitive behavior
C) He sounds much more meaningful now.
D) He has put on some weight, earlier he was too frail.
Of late, he has started doing “pranam” (a gesture of worshipping) to Baba (a divine figure whom he worshipped in his pre-disease days). He had completely forgotten about him. Surely, Ayurvedic medicines are bringing his old memories back.

Trilok Ayurveda - Col HP Singh Alzheimer’s patientIn January- 05, a BBC correspondent Mr. Mark Tuli came to interview him about his IInd World war days. Much to my amazement, he answered most of his questions with good accuracy. He has been taking medicines regularly for past more than 4 years. He is doing very well seeing his age (87 now).

Recently I attended a seminar on Alzheimer’s disease at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi where I came to know that an estimated 18 million people are suffering from dementia worldwide and in India, this figure is estimated to be around 3 million. With so much hopeless suffering around, through your eminent publication I wish this message reaches far.

Recently, while going to open the door he slipped and fell down. He was carrying a glass tumbler. His head hit the floor, broken glass pieces got pierced everywhere and he started bleeding profusely and sustained several injuries. He got many stitches but he recovered in just 1 week. Doctors were amazed to see his fast recovery at this age. I attribute his magnificent recovery to the immunity/strength boosting herbs that he has been taking for past 4 years. These herbs have not only taken care of his declining mental faculties but have also improved his vigor and vitality.

We are convinced that if there is a cure for Alzheimer’s disease it is in Ayurvedic system. Those who wish to contact the doctor may do so at:
